Ukrainian border guard Yevhen Bezpartochnyy voluntarily surrendered to Russian forces and, after receiving a video message from his US-based aunt Nika White urging him to stay in Russia, wrote to the Russian president requesting political asylum and permission to remain in Russia until the conflict ends.
